Dfrnt Lvls

Jason Air (originally known as DJ Linx) was brought up in North London. At the start of his production career he teamed up with Stevie Hyper D as Dfrnt Lvls with a vision of bringing a more ‘studio vibed’ vocal genre to the Drum & Bass / UK Hip Hop scene. This was achieved when he along with Stevie, was signed to Island to produce the album, ‘The Next Step’. One of the most versatile engineers/producers, his remit has covered all forms of Urban music with tracks with various artists signed to big hitters Universal and Sony BMG as well as having tracks appear on EA Sports, computer game FIFA Street 2. He linked up with Benny V and they decided to attempt a new album showcasing Stevie Hyper’s lyrics but getting in other producers to contribute. The first release on Dance Concept was an album sampler, ‘Move your body’ and ‘All I Wanna Do’ (DC001) written by Benny V & Dfrnt Lvls. Also featuring Stevie Hyper D they wrote ‘Aint no stoppin us now’ and ‘Junglist Soldier’ which appeared on The Legend. His track Flexin Today which was originally released on Island, was re-released on Dance Concept and has proved a timeless classic to this day. Dfrnt Lvls also collaborated with Benny V for the critically acclaimed ‘Oldskool Box’ (DC002) which was the second single release on the label.
